When construction and improvements were needed at the mine in Qaqortoq, Lumina engaged a local transport company. For several months, Nuuk Transport provided an impressive array of equipment at Lumina's minesite, including a trailer for container transport, a large flatbed truck, a mobile crane, and a crane truck. Nuuk Transport's partner BMS also provided a crawler crane at the mine.

When personnel or spare parts need to quickly reach Lumina's mine in Qaqortorsuaq, it's most likely Air Greenland Charter that gets the call. In winter, when the Kangerlussuaq fjord is frozen over, Air Greenland's helicopters are the mine's only connection to the outside world.

The blacksmith company Saffiorfik has, so to speak, grown up alongside Lumina Sustainable Materials A/S's mine in Greenland. The company was established in 2021, and the task of building the mine was among the first major projects.

No employees at Lumina's mine take the bus to work. The transport of both personnel and supplies between the mine in Qaqortorsuaq, located approximately 80 kilometers west of the airport settlement Kangerlussuaq, and the nearest larger town, Sisimiut, is managed by the local company SIRIUS Greenland. SIRIUS Greenland also supplies and maintains the firefighting equipment in the mine.

Maria Orianna Leth will advise the mine management on the development and planning of the mine to ensure efficient operations while meeting Lumina's strict safety and environmental standards.

A couple of times a week, a boat from Polar Trophy Hunt makes the approximately 80-kilometer journey from Kangerlussuaq to Greenland's only active mine in Qaqortorsuaq.
